Why Did My Savior Come to Earth?

May 20, 2025 by admin Leave a Comment

One of the fundamental things a person needs to know in teaching others comes in answering the question that an old hymn asked long ago: “Why Did My Savior Come to Earth?” This is a question that lies at the heart of the Christian faith. Why would Jesus leave the glory of heaven to live as a man, suffer, and die on a cross? The Bible gives us clear answers, revealing the depth of God’s love and His plan for our salvation.

Jesus Himself stated His mission: “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10) Without Christ, mankind was spiritually lost, separated from God by sin (Isaiah 59:2). No amount of good works could remove our sin, but through Jesus’ sacrifice, we can be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:18-19).

Jesus came to show us how to live a life pleasing to God. He left us a perfect example of humility, service, and obedience: “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.” (1 Peter 2:21) Through His life, Jesus taught us to love others (John 13:34-35), to pray (Luke 5:16), and to serve with humility (Mark 10:45).

Ultimately, Jesus came to give His life as a sacrifice. His death was not an accident but the fulfillment of God’s plan: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45) Through His death, He paid the price for our sins, offering salvation to all who obey Him (Hebrews 5:9). His resurrection proved His victory over sin and death, giving us the hope of eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:20-22).

Why did our Savior come to earth? He came to seek and save the lost, to give us an example, and ultimately, to die for our sins. His mission was not for His own benefit but for ours. Now, how will we respond to His love and sacrifice? Will we accept His gift of salvation by hearing His Word (Romans 10:17), believing (Mark 16:16), repenting (Acts 2:38), confessing Him (Romans 10:9-10), being baptized (Acts 22:16), and living faithfully (Revelation 2:10)?

Jesus came so that we might have life, let us choose to follow Him and share the message far and wide.

God Bless

-Todd Parsley
